This week I’d like to introduce our accounts assistant, Linsay. Linsay has only been with us for just a few months, but her positive outlook and can-do attitude has already made her an essential part of our team. So this week, we thought she deserved her very own shout out, blog style.
So here it is, Linsay’s very own Wholesale Domestic story…
Linsay’s main role in our company is to assist our HR & accounts manager by processing special orders and invoices, dealing with finance orders and helping with staff contracts and human resource tasks. Linsay’s daily schedule also includes general admin work and she helps out with our charity events from time to time too.
I managed to catch up with Linsay this morning to ask her a few questions about her role, and this is what she told me…
Firstly, I asked Linsay what do you like about your new job?
“I really enjoy the HR side to my job. It’s lovely to see newcomers to the company and create everything they need to be inducted. I think it’s really important to make sure that everyone is made to feel welcome the way I was when I first started. I love to be busy, and a constant varied workflow challenges me in a way that I really enjoy. I also like to help my manager Maureen in any way that I can so she has extra time for more important tasks.”
Is there anything you don’t like?
“I really don’t like it when orders are delayed. It just means that our customers need to wait for their products, which could cause delays in installation. I like to see everything on time and happy customers. We never want to disappoint our customers, and when there are delays, we’re always disappointed as much as them.”
Is there anything you feel you’d like to improve on?
“Yes. Absolutely. There are a few things that I would like to change, but I feel that the main thing I need to work on is my product knowledge. We literally have thousands upon thousands of products, and that doesn’t include all of our special order items. I would love to get to the point where I know what everything is without having to consult my product bible! I have only been here since June, so I know that my familiarity will build up over time and get me where I want to be.”
Is there anything that you’d like to add?
“This position has been life-changing for me, and I feel really excited to see where it takes me in the future. Our office is a lovely environment to work in, so I feel like I’ve settled in really well already. I’m eager to work hard and my goal is to eventually get more responsibility over time to keep me busy and always challenged.”
I need to mention that Linsay has just recently won an award at the Renfrewshire Employability Awards 2017 for her tenacity and work ethics. We want to offer our congratulations! Well done, and we truly hope that you have a long career ahead of you at Wholesale Domestic.
From talking to Linsay, it’s easy to see that she’s a team player with strong values. She really cares about the business, and is exceptionally passionate about this opportunity. It was genuinely heartening to speak to someone who is so enthusiastic about their role. Thanks so much for your time Linsay, it was a pleasure talking to you.
