Installing a bathroom mirror takes careful planning to make sure it sits flat and stays secure on the wall. First, you’ll need to decide on your height, which usually has the centre of the mirror at eye level for the majority of the household.

Use a spirit level to mark your wall, and check behind the wall for any pipes or electrical cables before drilling. Always use heavy-duty wall anchors and brackets that are designed for your specific wall type, whether it’s solid brick or hollow plasterboard, to keep it safely in place.

Avoid spraying chemical cleaners directly onto the mirror, as this can seep behind the edges and damage the silver backing over time. Instead, spray a small amount of warm water or specialised glass cleaner onto a soft microfibre cloth. Wipe the mirror surface in a circular motion, then buff it dry with a second, dry microfibre cloth to remove any leftover smudges or fingerprints.

Dealing with a steamed-up mirror after a hot shower can be frustrating. The most effective solution is to choose a modern heated mirror with a built-in demister pad.

These heating elements slowly warm the glass from behind, stopping steam from condensing on the surface.
